Dad passed away at roughly 11:30 PM on May 25, 2005 under the loving watch of his family and caregivers.

He died at the UCSF Medical Center from complications related to cancer. Although there were some rough spots during his illness, he died peacefully in his sleep.

Bill retired from teaching at Marshall University and moved to San Francisco in the summer of 2003 where his two sons, Jeff and Randy, have resided for a number of years.

Although he was sorry to leave his teaching career, Bill found new friends and enjoyed nearly two years of California living before heading home.

Bill was a loving father, husband, teacher and friend. His 40-plus year career as a college professor was driven by his unwavering passion to teach, inspire, and learn from the countless students and colleagues that graced his path.
