William Westbrook Memorial Scholarship Fund |
| Our
father’s passion in life was education. His life's work was devoted
to expanding his mind and the minds of those around him. He pressed his
students to always take a larger view, to challenge their assumptions, and
to contribute to their communities. He believed that the social contracts
in our society should be derived from justice, equity, and compassion, rather
than narrow self-interest, and that the political and economic systems we
design should stem from those same concepts of justice and compassion.
While the full mission of The Scholarship Fund is still being developed, a major function will be to offer assistance to sociology students at Marshall University. The Fund will also endeavor to make a positive contribution to social justice in general through various grants and donations. Targets of the Fund could include research grants, tuition scholarships, and programs in schools or other institutions. Donations of any size will be greatly appreciated. A non-profit foundation is being established to manage the scholarship fund. A separate, temporary bank account has been setup to accept contributions until the legal details of the foundation can be finalized. Until the foundation is ready to receive donations, checks may be made payable to the Randall A. Westbrook Fund and sent to: Randy Westbrook When the foundation is complete, all donations will be transferred accordingly.
This site will be periodically updated to discuss the growth and scope of the Fund, so please visit again soon. Thank you, Jeff and Randy Westbrook
